Arvika is a small town in western Sweden with 14,200 inhabitants (2007), and is part of Värmland County.The city is located on Lake Glafsfjorden, which is connected with habits (Sweden’s largest lake) via Byälven River.
Arvika is known for its rich cultural life, and has several galleries and museums. Rack City Museum is the most famous – an art which shows works from members of the so-called “Rack City Colony” (a group of Swedish artists who gathered in Arvika after the turn of the century). The museum has an exhibition of famous works and beautiful sculptures, and it also has a café and museum shop.
Another tourist attraction in Arvika is Fordonsmuseet – an exhibition of vintage cars, motorcycles and horse trailers. Arvika also has a nice city park in 1913 with fugledam, flower beds and sculptures.
A little outside the city is both a nature reserve and several beaches.
Arvika has several annual music festivals – where Arvika Festival is the most popular. This is held every summer, and draws many tourists to the city.
